OutFront Rally
Yesterday was a beautiful day, and it was made even more wonderful by being at the state capitol joined by several friends from church and thousands of others for the OutFront rally and day on the hill. It feels to me that the tide is slowly but surely turning in MN on the issue of glbt rights. Even our own Republican representative was sounding more reasonable on the issue. Our senator is another matter. But it was a great day.

I know it doesn't feel like it for many individuals and churches as they are being battered by bad legislation and its supporters both in the secular and Christain policy chambers, but I heard the word "tipping point" used a couple times yesterday and I've got to agree. I do think that we are approaching the summit of the big mountain on this human/civil rights issue.
This is not the same as the abortion issue. Once we cross this summit it is a matter of how equal we can make things. It us just like Racism and Sexism. Once we expose it and denounce it, it becomes a "negative" we will have to continue the work to ensure that equality is achieved--just as we still must for minority rights and womens' rights.
At the OutFront Rally yesterday MN State Sen. Scott Dibble and Joe Solomnese Chairperson of the Human Rights Campaign said that changes are happening around the country and Minnesota is one of the states leading the way--and they are in positions to know.
I do feel hope!
