Kersten 1, Jesus 0

Star Tribune columnist Katherine Kersten takes on the United Methodists and their sagging membership this morning. The clear loser in her column is Jesus:
Why the sagging Methodist numbers? Perhaps many folks in the pews don't share their leadership's left-wing political agenda. Today, the average United Methodist would probably be uneasy about gutting America's defense budget when Iran is on the fast track to building nuclear weapons.
What would Jesus do? That's the important question. Not what George Bush would do, or what the average Methodist might think is the best thing to do. What would Jesus do? Would he really want us to keep that big defense budget just where it is? Would he want us to have a defense budget at all?
