Signs of Desperation

How do we know Republicans are desperate? Here's how:

President Bush and congressional Republicans are aiming the political spotlight this week on efforts to ban gay marriage, as the Senate opens three days of debate on the issue.

They have given us high gas prices and no energy policy, two failed nation-building efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan, a stagnant economy and an out-of-control deficit, and a culture of corruption. They are in deep trouble and they know it. Their only hope now is to try and change the subject, energize their religious base, and polarize the nation further.
