The highest legal body in Conservative Judaism, the centrist movement in worldwide Jewry, voted yesterday to allow the ordination of gay rabbis and the celebration of same-sex commitment ceremonies. The Law Committee that made the decision decided to let it up to local synagogues to decide whether to perform commitment ceremonies and accept gay rabbis. Four members of the committee resigned in protest.
Another small but important step on the road to full acceptance.
